National Consortium for Societal Resilience [UK+] - Part 1

Updated: Mar 29, 2023

Chair's Welcome

A fantastic opening by Prof. Duncan Shaw and wonderful to see such an enormous collective collaboration, to address the complex issues of resilience together through a strategic approach.

The focus - on highest need, most vulnerable and at risk to reduce pressure on response agencies through building local capabilities is extremely welcomed. Particularly as we look to build the resilience of our whole society, and align to the levelling up agenda and other national and international policy.

This strategic and integrated approach offers a unique opportunity to enhance coordination between sectors and systems. This is an innovate multi-faceted approach to complex risk management issues and local sustainable development challenges.

The lessons identified and best practise being shared through the case studies, online webinars and the strategy being developed, is deeply encouraging with its alignment to global DRR initiatives such as the Sendai Framework. This brings me great hope for our collective pursuit for a more #resilientnation.
