The aim of the Workforce Opportunities and Development in NHS EPRR (WONDER) research project is to identify, through surveying the National Health Service (NHS) Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR) professionals, the future needs to further professionalise and develop the expert area of EPRR.
This research is being conducted by the Institute of Civil Protection and Emergency Management (ICPEM), supported by a steering group from three NHS England regional EPRR teams.
Our Objectives

Identify the investment in EPRR expertise at sector and organisational level.

Examine the opportunities for professional development, promotion and progression within the sector.

Understand the aspirations of EPRR workforce in relation to professional development and progression.

Identify knowledge and skill domains where development programmes could have positive impact.

Explore the changing dynamics of EPRR professionals work focus, including post-COVID impacts.

Provide recommendations to NHS England on future options for development of the EPRR profession.
