Archive & Library

ICPEM Archive

ICPEM has a small archive of material which we inherited. It largely covers the Cold War period. Work is underway to catalogue and expand the archives as Resource Centre for the benefit of all our members and students.

Contribute to the Archive

Please help develop this valuable asset. Most historic documents are in hard copy only. New documents can be shared online in electronic format.

Books on disasters, major incidents and planning and response are also sought. You can all help to develop this. Please throw nothing out until you have considered whether ICPEM could use it. We will accept books and documents and are particularly interested in plans. These may range from major national events such as Coronations, down to small local fêtes for which a contingency plan has been written. Plans to deal with strikes and civil disturbances  are also useful. Where Emergency Plans are rewritten or revised the older versions should always be kept for reference purposes.

ICPEM will keep them safe for you. Plans for COMAH/CIMAH sites are important as well. Special care can be given to documents that are classified or restricted.

Accessing the Archive and Library

It is envisaged that in due course researchers may be able to have online access to the archives, and in the interim, a search done on your behalf. Newer digitised material will be made available online.

Leave a Legacy

Please also think about leaving ICPEM relevant material in your will as well as financial assistance for our work.

Please contact Dr Ken Hines c/o admin with regard to any of the above.
