Continuing Professional Development

A good CPD record demonstrates that the knowledge and skills that are necessary for you to practice are up-to-date, enabling you to serve society to the best of your ability.

What is CPD

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is the umbrella term used to describe the various ways in which you can update  skills and knowledge to remain up-to-date throughout your career.

Actively using CPD can support you in your career development whether you are new to the sector, thinking about changing sector or have many years of experience.

Maintaining a CPD Record

As  an ICPEM member we will provide advice and guidance on what is expected of you as a member of the Institute, how to plan, record and reflect on your CPD, and the support available to you from us.

CPD Activities

ICPEM does not rigidly prescribe the activities which may contribute towards CPD because you are the best person to choose the right CPD activity for you. You should take into account your goals, your learning styles and the opportunities available to you.

CPD Records

Maintaining a record of your CPD throughout the year helps you track, document and reflect on your skills, knowledge and experience you have undertaken to achieve your career development goals. ICPEM members can use ICPEM Learn to find, access, undertake and record your CPD activities.

We recommend that ICPEM members undertake a minimum of 25 hours of CPD per year for those who have Member, Fellow and Senior Fellow status.
