This symposium focuses on uses of remote sensing – from satellites through to drones, as well as crowdsensing and other geospatial data - for contingency planning, emergency management and disaster response. Various new developments will be discussed, such as big data analytics using machine learning; digital twins, from landscape to household scales; and decision support systems for risk management.
The event is being run jointly by the RGS-IBG Professional Practice Group for Disaster Risk Management, the Institute of Civil Protection and Emergency Management (ICPEM), the Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry Society (RSPSoc) Special Interest Group for Disaster Management, and the Association for Geographic Information (AGI).
